KAHU Terms and Conditions
These Terms and Conditions apply to all services provided by KAHU (“we”, “us”, “our”) to the client (“you”, “your”). They are written in line with UK consumer law and recognised professional standards used by organisations such as the IMDT, APDT and ABTC.
By booking or participating in any KAHU service, you agree to these Terms and Conditions.
1. Training Ethos
KAHU uses ethical, humane, reward-based training methods, prioritising dog welfare and emotional wellbeing. We do not use aversive equipment or techniques designed to cause fear, pain or intimidation. Where a dog’s needs fall outside our scope of practice, we may recommend referral to an appropriately qualified professional.
2. Services
Services may include 1-to-1 sessions, group classes, courses, workshops, or online support. All services are educational in nature. We reserve the right to refuse or discontinue services where safety, welfare, or appropriate conduct cannot be maintained.
3. Bookings, Payment and Consumer Rights
Bookings are confirmed once payment (or a stated deposit) is received. Prices are shown in GBP (£). Services are provided with reasonable care and skill in accordance with the Consumer Rights Act 2015.
Under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013, you may cancel services booked at a distance within 14 days of booking, unless the service takes place within that period and you have requested it to begin.
4. Cancellations and Rescheduling
Client cancellations:
- More than 14 days’ notice: sessions may be refunded or rescheduled
- Less than 14 days’ notice: sessions are non-refundable but may be rescheduled
- Less than 7 days’ notice or non-attendance: sessions are non-refundable and cannot be rescheduled
- A course or block booking is treated as one booking. The 14-day period applies only to the first scheduled session.
- Pre-paid packages and courses are non-refundable once commenced, unless required by law.
- If KAHU needs to cancel a session, an alternative date or full refund will be offered.
5. Client Responsibilities
You confirm your dog is fit to participate and that relevant health information and behavioural history has been disclosed. Dogs must remain under control at all times. You are responsible for your dog’s welfare and behaviour during sessions.
6. Behaviour, Advice and Outcomes
Dog training outcomes cannot be guaranteed. Progress depends on multiple factors including consistency, environment, learning history, and health. Advice is based on the information provided by you.
7. Risk, Liability and Insurance
KAHU accepts responsibility for providing services with reasonable care and skill. Dog training involves inherent risk due to the unpredictable nature of animals, and you remain responsible for your dog at all times.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, KAHU is not liable for injury, damage or loss caused by your dog, except where caused by our proven negligence. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be excluded under UK law. KAHU holds appropriate public liability and professional indemnity insurance.
8. Children and Safety
Children under 18 must be supervised by an appropriate adult. We may limit attendance where safety or training effectiveness may be affected.
9. Images and Data Protection
Photos or videos may be taken for training records. Separate consent will be obtained for marketing use. Personal data is processed in accordance with UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.
10. General
We are not liable for delays or cancellations due to circumstances beyond our control. These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
